Capacity building
The Canadian Coast Guard sends teams to other countries to offer training, share expertise, and help partner nations build skills in:
- search and rescue
- small boats operations
- maritime-based detection and response capabilities
- interagency operations
We also bring delegations from other countries to Canada, offering them training at the Canadian Coast Guard College.
Capacity building contributes to the safe and sustainable use of all waterways and enhances global maritime safety and security. These efforts also support:
- Government of Canada objectives
- United Nations Sustainable Development goals
- the empowerment of women in maritime roles
Capacity building is a unique opportunity for Canadian Coast Guard personnel that supports Canada’s international reputation.
